Bachelor of Theology Programme
Bachelor of Theology: The Bachelor of Theology is a three year programme, primarily designed to equip students to be Christ centered, Mission-oriented leaders, with adequate academic and biblical knowledge to serve in the local churches and communities for witnessing and discipling.
Curriculum: Curriculum of the Bachelor of Theology programme consists 22 core© subjects prescribed by Asia Theological Association and 14 – 18 optional subjects prescribed by the Seminary in order to help accomplish its vision. The subjects along with their core descriptions are placed below.

Course Description
Biblical Studies
1.Old Testament Survey: A study of the historical settings, themes, content, and purpose of the Books of the Old Testament.
2. New Testament Survey: A study of the historical settings, themes, content and purpose of the Books of the New Testament.
3. Introduction to Pentateuch: A study of the first five books of the Old Testament with special emphasis on their historical background and theological contents.
4. Life and Ministry of Jesus Christ: This is the detail study of the life and the ministry of Christ based on the Gospel of Mark.
5. Introduction to the Gospels: This is the study of the historical, literary, social and theological contexts of the four Gospels and their portraits of Jesus Christ, their messages for ancient Christians and their relevance for modern readers.
6. History of Israel: Focuses on the geographical and historical birth and development of the nation of Israel as recorded in the Pentateuch and the historical books. Emphasizes God‘s initial revelation and redemptive work with man.
7. Johnine Writings: This course shows how the Gospel of John testifies to the deity and Lordship of Jesus. This study highlights Christ‘s deity and the redemption aspect of His life and death, as recorded by the Apostle John. The first, second and the third John are included in the course.
8. Poetical Literature of the Old Testament: This is a study of the Old Testament books: Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastics, and the Song of Solomon. Attention is given to an application of the literature to practical Christian living.
9. Old Testament Prophets: This course is a study of the prophetical movements in Israel and the Theology of Prophets.
10. Acts of the Apostles: A study of the book of Acts with a focus on its theology, purpose, history, preaching, teaching and depiction of Christian origins. Special emphasis is given to using the book of Acts in understanding church growth.
11. Pauline Writings: A survey of Pauline theology from his writings with special emphasis on Romans 1 – 8.
12. Hebrews and General Epistles. Investigates the books of Hebrews, James, 1 and 2 Peter, and Jude. With the background of content in focus, the doctrinal statements and passages for practical Christian living receive evaluation and application.
13. Biblical Interpretation: An introduction to the different kinds of writings in the Bible and the approach to be taken in interpreting them.
14. Preliminary Greek: This is a study of the Greek alphabet, pronunciation, basic vocabulary, sentence syntax, noun and verb construction, and translation of simple Greek passages.
Theology and Ethics
15. Christian Theology – I: This course introduces the Christian Theology and studies the following Christian doctrines: Theology Proper, Bibliology, Angelology, Anthropology and Harmartiology with its implication in practical lives.
16. Christian Theology – II: This is a continuation of Christian Theology – I. This covers the studies of Christiology, Soteriology, Pneumatology, Ecclesiology and Eschatology with its implication in practical lives.
17. Introduction to Christian Ethics: A survey of contemporary personal and social ethical issues in relation to contemporary society.
18. Indian Christian Theology: This course is a study of the writings and thoughts of some theologies of India. This course will also suggest guidelines and methodologies for constructing Indian Christian Theology.
History of Christianity
19. General History of Christianity: A survey of the worldwide growth of Christianity in the Christian era.
20. History of Christianity in India: A survey of the coming of Christianity to India and its spread across the country.
Religions & Society
21. Major Religions in India: A study of the origin, teachings, belief and practices of the Major Religions of India. The study will cover Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, Sikhism, and Jainism.
22. Contemporary Indian Movements: A study of contemporary religious and social movements and trends in the sub-continent and their relevance to the Indian Church.
Mission Studies
23. Introduction to Mission and Evangelism: A study of the biblical foundation for mission and the biblical principles and methods of evangelism in the New Testament with a critical look at methods of evangelism that have proved to be effective in historical periods.
24. Principles of Church Growth: An introduction to the Biblical and historical principles of church planting and church growth.
35. Modern Missionary Movements: A survey of the Modern Missionary Movement from its inception with William Carey in the late 18th century to the present. Emphasis on the course will be on major personalities and mission organizations.
Christian Ministry
26. Preaching and Worship: This is a study of principles of Christian worship and preaching. Attention will be given to the elements of worship and to the elements of sermon composition and structure. Evaluation is included in the practical delivery of the message.
27. Church Administration and Leadership: This is a study of the basic principles of management and leadership as related to Christian ministry.
28. Pastoral Care and Counselling: This is a study of the basic task of a pastor in his oversight and nurture of a congregation.
29. Educational Ministry in the Church: A study of the principles of education and educational psychology as they relate to the ministry of teaching in the church.
30. Children Ministry: This course provides an overview of children ministry in a contemporary context. It provides the Biblical basis for children ministry and explores the development of programmes appropriate for children from salvation to maturity in Christ. It also enhances the practical abilities of the students for conducting children ministry in various contexts.
31. Spiritual Warfare: Studies the biblical approach to issues such as power encounter, demonic possession and deliverance and its application to Christian missions.
General Studies
32. Basic Spirituality: This is a study of basic Christian life and discipleship. Students are encouraged to enrich their own spiritual life and are given guidelines for encouraging a ministry for spiritual formation and discipleship.
33. Study Methods: This course is a study of the methods and techniques involved in study, research, paper writing and so on.
34. Biblical Characters: Study of key characters of both the Old Testament and the New Testament and their lives as examples.
35. Bible Geography: Study of the geography of the Bible lands and people and finding Bible places on the map.
36. Women in Ministry: Studies the biblical, historical and contemporary involvement of women in the Christian Ministry.
37. English Grammar I & II: This course is designed to build on the English skills of the students. It includes Basic English grammar, vocabulary building, enhancement of writing and speaking skills, and a review of English literature.
38. Church Music and Worship: Explores the role and kinds of music in worship and evangelism. Attention is also given to the responsibilities, qualifications and skills for worship leaders, music personnel in the church, such as music director, pianist, organist, choir members, and other instrumentalists.
39. Ministry Internship: Assigns the student to a specific ministry to provide in-depth and hands-on experience in doing ministry. The internship involves considerable supervision, reporting, and evaluation. It is generally taken during weekend, winter and summer breaks.
Grading System
Promotion
A student must obtain a minimum 40% or above in each subject to be promoted. Students failing in more than 3 subjects in a semester will not be promoted. However, students failing in one to three subjects in a semester will be promoted with provision made for a re-take examination.
Graduation Requirements
- B.Th. Students should complete minimum 36 subjects (108 credit units).
- Successful completion of ministry Internship with minimum of a GPA of B.
- Satisfactory development of character and spiritual life.
- Clarification of all college fees.
